I just picked up a used boat. It is great shape. After I took the name off the back you can still see it in the gelcoat. The boat is red and not sure how to fade the weathed paint and unweathered paint togother. I just want it to look good. It really stands out bad. I would guess the name was on there of 10 years or so.

Re: gelcoat question

Red is the worst! Work on the rest of the boat with compound and wax and try to bring the color out without cutting too much of the gel coat away. Usig a buffer and slow cutting compound, try to feather the dull red adjacent to your decals in an attempt to distort (feather) the decal fade lines. Try it in a spot or 2, but stop if it is not working. Your gel coat is only 15-20 mils. Other than that, expensive re-gel coat or paint is about your only other answer.
