I have a few areas on my boat where the gelcoat needs repaired. One is where the gelcoat is flaking away and another is a pretty good gouge. Any advice on repairing this would be appreciated.

With those colors..take it to a pro IMHO ..

Unless you just want to "patch" them up .. ..

I just want to patch it up for now. I plan to paint or re gel over the winter. I just want to keep water out of the glass.

Keeping water out of the glass isn't really a concern.

I agree.. do nothing or do it right ...

Don't fill the reps with some out of the can crap..

Those in the maroon can probably be mostly wetsanded out and buffed.. the one in the grey that will take some doing..

Even if you spot spray that long repair..its going to look like a patch in less then a year ..

Do the whole gray band in gel or paint to have it Right .. IMO ..Insurance pays for these things if you have it :) .

Re: gelcoat repair

Not sure about insurance as this damage was there when I got the boat. I'm not concerned about the small scratches in the maroon as I figured I could wet sand and buff those out. It's the area where the gel coat is missing in big pieces where I'm concerned. Kind of seems like bad adhesion to me.
