Hello everyone, question, can a Generac 1400 generator work for a Monterey 262, I only want it to move the A/C. Below the specs:

1400 Watt, iX, Inverter CARB
Item # 6FDL3
Portable Inverter Generator, C.A.R.B Compliant, Rated Watts 1400, Surge Watts 1450, Engine Brand Generac OHV, 120/240 Voltage, 11.6 Amps @ 120/240V

Thanks in advance for the help!

Re: Generac 1400 Portable

The issue would be the startup amperage required by the A/C unit. Even the smallest units would be pushing the limits of that gennie.

If 1400 is the max generator output then the running watts will be much less - more like 1200 watts. You need to know what the a/c wattage is.

Re: Generac 1400 Portable

Correction, just got the generator and I had order the iX 1600. Below are the right specs.
1600 watts of clean power to safely power sensitive electronics
Voltage 120 Single-Phase
Frequency: 60 Hertz
Alternator: Inverter
Auto Voltage Regulation: Yes
Fuel Type Gasoline
Rated Amps: 13 Amps @ 120 Volts (Single Phase)
Tank Size: .8 Gallons
Run Time (50% Load): 4.9 Hours

Thanks for the help, I will try to find out, before trying. Silvertip is that a 40% Decathlon on your avatar? Awsome plane

Re: Generac 1400 Portable

whether or not it starts you A/C unit will have to do with the quality of the inverter in that inverter-generator, and how close to a sine-wave it puts out.
Those little units are hybrids. The alternator charges the batt and the inverter produces AC off the battery.
Inverters that produce a pure enough sine wave for motors to run reliably are usually quite expensive.

I would be surprised if the IX1600 starts the refrig compressor reliably. Hopefully it will work.

p.s. you realize this is a remote shore power supply only - you can't run it safely on-board. Swim platform maybe, but I wouldn't - too unpredictable where exhaust (CO) will go.

Re: Generac 1400 Portable

After looking at my owners manual, the A/C apperas to be 5,000 Btu/hr if it makes any diference.
