Looking to purchase boat with 2000 150 h.p. 2 stroke johnson ocean pro with a apparent electrical issue, doesnt turn over, Im considering the sale because of price. Anyhistorical glitches, lemon aspects, about engine or electrical system that could be considered before starting specific troubleshooting.Turn key, alarm beeps , slight click thats it. Battery and connections all good.Any advice would be appreciated. Thankyou Andy

Could be misreading as low voltage
Jump with cables straight to starter

Most of the time those symptoms are the result of resistance (too small to measure with Ohmmeter) in the high current circuit for the starter. Cables and connectors can look okay and be tight, but hiding corrosion.

The test Bosunmate suggests will tell for sure if the battery and starter are good.

The starting circuit on that motor is standard. That motor has carbs right? If so, the carb motors are pretty good.
