I am thinking of a boat trade which includes a 1988 (I think) 115hp Mercury which i think is refered to a "Tall Tower" model or something
Anyway just thought i might get some opinions on this model in general as it will be my first trip away from "JohnnyRudes" in quite some time
It's been owned by a father since new then handed down to his son so i belive it has been well maintained :)
Thanks

The engines were referred to as a "tower of power" and there are those of us that worship them. Yes I am one of them.. Check the internal wiring for rotten insulation and the general condition of the wiring. Look for evidence of overheating, A compression test of all six cyl would be a valuable evaluator for this engine. Should be even and above 115 PSI. Check the top of the piston on cyl 3 (pull the plug and look in with a flashlight). If the top of #3 looks intact and the compression is good, then the trade might be a good deal, only you can judge that.
