I have a 1997 4.3gs..It runs great .Dosnt use any oil and has been taken care of....I am not the original owner . I am wondering how many hours till most need a rebuild....I was told the 3.0 litres go about 1000-1200 hours and the 4.3 go about 2000 hours....Is that about right? Thanks

Ayuh,.... A compression test, 'n leak down test will give ya an Idea of yer motor's current health,...

Generally speakin', boat motor's are Killed by their Owners, 'n Never Wear out,....

That said, 2000/ 3000 hours til the 1st rebuild is Not Unheard of,...

that's the I4s, V6s, SBCs, 'n BBCs....

Thanks...It has less than 300 so it looks like i have years of trouble free boating ahead....assuming i keep up with regular maintenance..
