Hey guys was wondering if there is a big difference between generators??? The reason I am wondering is I just got one off ebay and I put it in but the pulley rubs on the flywheel? My motor is a 63 40hp seahorse. Do they make different pulleys? The generator seems to mount in fine. Thanks guys

Re: Generator

Is it the cone shaped pulley? There are only two, the one for the twin cylinder motors and the one for the V-4 engines. You need the cone shaped one. There is supposed to be a spacer washer below it to give it about 1/8" clearance over the flywheel. The generators are the same except for the mountings and pulley.

Re: Generator

That's the wrong pulley. The one you need is more mushroom shaped - taller, if you will. The pulley should extend upwards far enough to be parallel with the pulley on top of the flywheel... That pulley looks like the one for the V4s, which ran off a pulley from UNDER the flywheel.

Re: Generator

Agreed. You have a pulley for a V-4. You can see a picture of the one you need at BRP electronic parts list at http://shop.evinrude.com/
Look up a 1968 Evinrude Lark (model 40873)
You need a pulley, the spacer under it, and a top flange.

Edit: I didn't follow through to see if they have them in stock. You can order it right there if they do.
