genset motor question

hi all.....need guidance :p

i have a kohler genset...(2005)
5e (model number)

it has a kawasaki motor.
off the bottom of the float bowl of the carb is a selinoid.....

what the heck is it for?

any guesses?

The solenoid is your safety in case the motor overheats or loses oil pressure. It kills the flow of gas to the carb.

Lyle and Oops,

Check that info. All of the safety kill switches on Kohler gen sets feed back to the control board and kills the ignition NOT stop the fuel flow. I believe that solenoid on the carb is an anti-dieseling device to prevent the gen set from continuing to run on when shut down like the old carbureted cars used to do.
