Re: Geocaching

Snailman,
Let us know when you get them placed, we'll do them. Have hit three so far that are "Boat Only" accessible, last on an island in Lake Anna. Got 11 caches yesterday. My little one, bless her heart turned 11 and all she wanted to do for her birthday was Geocache! So we did 11 in celebration, and took her to dinner. Poor kid was in heaven, but so pooped that she came home and went to bed, B'day cake still on the counter.

88 caches for us and still counting. Username there same as here. We've found a lot of nice places we wouldn't have found otherwise.

-Roger

Re: Geocaching

I am hooked. I have 5 finds under my belt in the last few days. I decided a while ago to get out more in the winter and spend time outdoors. This geocachce thing came along at the right time. I am amazed at the numbers of these things out there.

OMC - cool, I will have to check that out. Going there next Sunday (if the planes are flying then, anyway).

CCrew!
Hi! Yep... saw some of your posts at Groundspeak and figured it was you. (References to VA and all). I'll definately let you know when I get around to putting some out in the NNK area. Right now I'm looking into the ownership and accessibility of some "deserted" islands near my place on the Rapahannock.

I just bought a new GPS unit! It hasn't arrived yet but I ordered it from GPSDiscount.Com and they confirmed shipping today.

I ordered the Garmin GPSMap 76S with the Bluechart disk and the unlock code for the Chesapeake Bay Region. I can't wait! I guess I'll probably get the MapSource disk with all the street maps too. The 76S has 24MB of internal memory and can store the entire Chesapeake Bay and all its tributary rivers and still have more than 1/2 its memory left to spare.

jsfinn!
Whenever you wanna go out and give Caching a try just shoot me an e-mail! I'll send you my schedule (I work most Saturdays but Sundays are good and I have some weekdays off too.) I live full time in Manassas and work in Fairfax City. I boat in the Northern Neck of Virginia where my cottage is. I'll Geocache anywhere! :)

Re: Geocaching

yea Flathead, me and mine are hooked too, so is my daughter and her boyfriend. I'll have a gps by next month. We have a long shallow lake near by full of tiny islands every island has a campsight or two so I want to plant a bunch of mirco caches on the islands with clues that lead to a bigger (main) cash.

Snailman,
Sounds great! I haven't got out yet to try it (busy with holidays and all..) but as soon as I can find a few hour, I'm doin' it! It looks like there are a few at Bull Run.

We're neighbors - I'm about 2 miles from the PWC/FFX border on 28 - where are you?

I've done a few now also. I bought me a nearly new Garmin rino 110 at the pawn shop for $75.00  WOOO HOO. I've got 4 finds so far. Haven't had much time since the last find to do anymore yet. Thanks for the post. I may be hooked. Too early to tell yet.

Re: Geocaching

OMG you guys are just getting into this??
This has been going on for years! Great sport! And just plain good fun! I have a friend who introduced me to this years ago. (I've not tried it yet) But a few years ago he was waiting for the low tide of the year here in the Puget sound area.. Seems a German guy while on vacation here buried a sealed can at the lowest tide of the year.. well we found it. Just a book of matches.. at Point Defiance. But a heck of a lot of fun :)
When I do buy a GPS My wife and I are going to join in the fun!

Link
