Re: Get together?

Same goes for you too sasto - if your every in the central basin of lake erie - the beers are always cold you know partially do the weather lol. It may be a year or two before I can make the trip down south, you know with the baby and all. We do have family in the Georgia, and N Carolina that we try to visit every year. One day I will join the "what does winterizing a boat mean" club too.

Machinist I also just remembered that some other great guys put on a great lakes meet too, i believe it was on lake erie this past year in the wetern basin. If you ever get to make up this way.
Cool Ill keep an eye out for the next one.Only been to one of the lakes when I was a going (can't remember which one) but a buddy of mine was talkn about headn up that way for some fall Crappie not sure if its gonna happen this year though!

Thanks for the invite, badkins, you never know. In did travel Lake Erie for several years. We traveled the Welland Canal and always stopped at Buffalo. Once the lake was clear I always tried to make my next stop at Port Huron. Never had a chance to stop in your area....but...have been to the Flats in Cleveland many times.;)

noooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And to think I once wanted to go bass fishing with you someday.

I have never been one to socialize on the net. No online dating or anything like that when I was single. I had a good feeling about meeting my first iboater. He didn't let me down. He was what he seemed. A real stand out guy. Since that first meeting I had the pleasure of meeting others at St. Augustine. They too were what they appeared to be. They are my brothers. I urge others to do the same.

Good Luck Guys.

PS: Will be shooting you an e-mail, Machinist. Let's go fishing someday!

With the exception of smallies, spots, Kentuckies and the occasional smaller largemouth my bass fishing days are all but behind me unless I make a change in the flotilla. Still plenty of trout around to bend the three weight though. What we really need to do is take a gravel bar camping float trip on the raft.;)

Re: Get together?

Okay here is the deal. Willing to have a party next summer on a weekend off, can use the boat ramp as a guest for free, if you need to camp Camp Perry is 1/2 mile away along lake they have rooms, and a nice campground. Will have to be before the Nationals though. Just a thought if anyone is interested, yes this is on Lake Erie near Port Clinton, the run to lake is short, depth is between 4 and 6 feet right now. I work nights so will be when I am on vaca that week.

If it involves being on top of the water, on in it....I'm up for it!

This would be our chariot Sasto. She's named The Gear Pig. The hairy guy on the front is my buddy Mark. He comes with the boat. I bought her sight unseen from an outfitter in Oregon and built the frame and assembled all the stuff to go with it. That empty bay in the front of the frame holds another dry box. She'll carry a week's worth of gear, beer and food along with anyone who can find a seat on top of it all. It's a great way to travel.

Not much for me to crappie fish but have caught sevral large ones in creek, then there is more places up on the Portage river. June is a good time to walleye fish. This year was a poor year for walleye though. Hoping to get one more perch trip in this year, but having sca's today then will be gone for 3 days back monday.

Walleye and perch are usually the most in demand and around the port clinton area the walleye are usually pretty big and bitting good in the spring then after spawning and as the water gets warmer they move out to the east to the deeper, more cold waters. you usually can watch the dedicated ohio game fishermen to see the guys as the move from the west to the east. perch bite is usually pretty good all year around just depends on water clarity. I know this year the bite was great in the central basin for a long time until the recent storms made it muddy.

fishing dude, as for the meeting, I'm in. just let us know when you are do for that vacation. I'm off on the weekends and can vaca anytime.

Re: Get together?

Stay on top of the "Boating Activities" forum. Plenty of get togethers. If you want one in your area, simply start a thread. That's all it takes.:D You may end up with some life long friends.

And a guy like this one.

We had a great 3 day get together in St. Augustine in June and another one coming up this Friday, just south of Fort Pierce, Fl. All you have to do is start the thread in a common area to boaters and see who responds. Our first one was a "what if..." idea and wound up with people from 2 states coming in. Absolutely great people and had a great time.

Yes we did

I have had the opportunity to party for a weekend with him and his lady Kimi in June and will be doing it again this weekend, this time in his neck of the woods. They are a great couple and as nice as a guy as you'll ever meet.

VH on the other hand is a trouble maker...:D

I was at the first one and will be in the one this weekend, and yes you have to watch out for VH

Thank you!!!:D

...And that, folks, is coming from one who truely knows about making trouble.;) So I guess there's really no denying it!!!

In so far as sasto (and Kimi), just think of the nicest, most complimentary description of a person you can think of, and finding a way to make it even better... It would still be an understatement.

Fireman would never make trouble. I agree with your description of Sasto and Kimi.

Dang....you guys are going to ruin my bad reputation!

What do you think we are trying to do.

Re: Get together?

Why is your friend wearing a sweater while out on the boat? :D

The first thing people always say is "Man, that thing is awesome! I gotta get one of those!" followed immediately by "Wow, I always heard we had sasquatches around here, but I never expected to see them rowing a raft!"

Incoop is about 5 hrs. south of me. I've been gravel bar camping in the Missouri Ozarks on the Current and Jack's Fork rivers. It is great fun and some of the most beautiful scenery you will ever see. I would definately consider a trip like that.
