GETTING 12 VOLT POWER FROM OUTBOARD

I HAVE A 1993 EVENRUDE MANUAL START OUTBOARD THAT I USE AS A KICKER. DOES ANYONE KNOW IF I CAN TAP OFF OF IT TO SUPPLY 12VOLTS POWER IN AN EMERGENCY IF I NEED TO TRY TO CHARGE MY BATTERY.<br />I KNOW THAT THE ELECTRIC GENERATES MORE AMPS PER THE BOOK BUT WHAT WOULD HAPEN IF I TAP OFF THIS POWERE AND WERE WOULD I TAP OFF OF. THANKS FOR ANY HELP IF IT IS POSABLE.

What is the model number? <br />From there we might be able to help, <br />with out it we would simply be guessing.

Generally the non-electric start Evinrude/Johnsons of that era did not have a 12v charging system. The spark is generated by a magnito. If your motor does have a regulated or non-regulated 12v output, it should have an inline fuse somewhere and a regulator or rectifier mounted near the powerpack.<br /><br />If you want to add charging capability, it generally involves swapping all the stuff under the flywheel and the flywheel with a motor that has a generator.
