Re: Getting air...
you need a advice from a certified waterski instructor, so here it is.
Jumping on a wakeboard is all about "pop"
i will start from moving outside the wake.
come out slow riding on your toe side once you are 85% out at a 90 degree angle to the wake start your cut, bend your knee's and put your weight into the turn this will create push and speed.
stay straight with the wake, cutting hard and keeping up speed, head up, arms straights, knee's bent.
as you approach the wake ( the bottom) flatten the board ( ie stop cutting on edge like a ski), you want the board to be flat to generate the most flotation or upward push, as you reach the top of the wake don't jump, the idea is not to jump but to "pop" off the wake, it's not like jumping on a skateboard or snowboard you want to use the water, speed and wake to lift you up. you want to generate body lift so think about lifting your shoulders, head, all body parts...this will create the pop you are looking for.
by jumping off the wake you are pushing downwards on the board, ie squishing the wake and making it hard to get good air, by popping off the wake, ie lifting your whole body up as you ride over the top you will generate lots of lift and pop.
hope this helps, remember to keep your knee's bent, arms straight, head up and lift with those shoulders as you peak on the top of that wake! keep that board flat on the wake.
