I have a 2006 seaswirl bowrider with a 3.0 L volvo penta glp-d. One of the major problems I have doing things like changing the impeller or the fuel filter is getting at the front of the engine.

The back seat is a bench and I was wondering if anyone has any wisdom about how I can take the back bench out. I have removed every screw I can find and it still seems to be unmovable.

I have posted this in the seaswirl forum but truth be told no one seems to visit there. This seems to be where the brain power is so I hope this post is in the right place.

Many times,... Screws are hidden with Buttons, or in Seams......

You don't have an isolated problem. All boat manufacturers build them so maintenance is impossible.
I've had several boats that it's necessary to pull the engine to change the starter, raw water pump impellers, do tuneups etc.
They used to buld the engine covers so they came off the boat with a few screws that made the engines accessable. But that cost too much for the builders. Now you pull engines or cut access holes.

thats depressing. I could probably change the impeller with only slight bodily injury but I'm pretty sure I'm going to have to either dislocate something to get to the fuel filter.

I'm sure if you know what your doing it wouldn't be to bad but as a first time boat owner I would like to be able to see what I'm taking apart so that there is some reasonable chance of putting back together (without duct tape) again.

Hey Newtoo,
Sounds like you have a nice boat. Just keep your sense of humor while you saw away at that re-model job. Best of luck!

When I'm taking something apart for the first time I try to take a picture of it and what's around it first to help put everything back the right way.
