See my Boat Shopping 101 thread if interested....
Linda snd I looked today at a 1995 Larson 280 Cabrio. Twin V-6 carbed Mercs. Nice styling, roomy, generally in good shape. Needs some cockpit upholstery. IMO, priced high at $20K after our 1st round of informal negotiation (NADA value is about $16K), but all maintenance is up to date. On the way home I left a message for my friend Bob about taking him along for a sea trial. Soon as I hung up, the phone rang and I put that boat on hold...
A month or so ago we went to look at a '97 Four Winns 278 Vista. Twin Volvo V-6's, fuel injected, SX drives. Just under 500 hours on the motors. All upholstery, interior in very presentable condition. A little better all around condition than the Larson. This boat is about due for risers and manifolds, but I like Volvo engine/drive packages. I had offered $15K. Owner wasn't interested but has now changed his mind and will accept it as an 'as-is, take it or leave it' price.
Going to try and arrange a sea trial for some afternoon next week, then (after Bob's looked it over with me) arrange a survey.
Gotta move fast- I can't leave the current owner hanging as it's getting late in the season. I also still need to haul and winterize the Chris*Craft. Too late to concentrate on selling that now, too. If the FW passes muster I'll need to arrange winter storage, winterizing, etc. Yikes!
Hope everything works out- wish me luck
