Getting no beep when turning the key

So I put the boat in the water at a tournament the other week, it fired up fine and warmed up for 15+ plus mins. I had turn the motor off for 20 plus waiting for blasting. I had fired it up twice to position the boat, and right before blasting it never fired again! I change the spark plugs it fired up 2 times but cut off immediately and never fired again. Now when I turn my keep I get almost little to no power nor does it beep like it usually does before firing. Any help is appreciated thanks

Motor is a 1996 Johnson fast strike 150
Boat is a 282 stratos 18.5

Battery, corroded wire or something along those lines is where I would start.

Check voltage at starter solenoid from battery and then the other side of the solenoid while turning the key.

I just had the same thing and spent a few days chasing it. If the battery load tests fine, check the voltage drop from the cables just like saltchuck suggested. But that won't rule out the starter. In my case, the voltage drop was double what was expected, tried another cable, and got the same results. Pulled the starter and opened it up, besides all the crud buildup ( 98 115hp with 200 hrs, but 24 years old..) the magnet had started to fall apart and had pieces embedded in windings, it was TOAST.
