Does iBoats sell Resin in 5gal buckets?

Not that I can tell .. Its possible they can still get you resin in 5 gals. You would have to call them up :) .

Like I stated in my above posts..still do your price shopping per normal. Just saying to include Iboats in your 'supplier list' :) .

Re: Getting the Best out of Iboats Pt.2.

I have bought stuff from Iboats before, and even with the shipping charges, they were still cheaper...

But now, thanks to YD's heads-up...I will definitely be putting the price match guarantee to the test...
I happen to live in Boatlandia, USA...and there is a lot of good price competition around, plus I have a lot of driving distance locations I can go to...so, if my time and gas expenses are more than what it costs to get it shipped, then I am all for giving by Biz to Iboats...
Still good advice to shop around, 'cause you never know what somebody is willing to sell what you are looking for, at.

Thanks, this is good stuff

PS- Jay, I am not sure if gauges fall under electronics products, but according to the guarantee, they are not included in the price match...
Another part of the not-so-fine print states that price match guarantee only applies to Customers residing in the U.S.

I'm wondering also if the pricematch is *** for Tat. Meaning, Since they Sell Evercoat and Boaters Choice Resin, does their price match apply to UScomposites Resin, Or only to vendors selling Evercoat or Boaters Choice Resin?

Says "Identical, in stock item" and "all price matching at the discretion of iboats.com"

I for one always check out Iboats first and have found pricing to be very competative until check out time when I see the UPS charge. That's when I turn away. As far as price match claims I'm always skepical of those and expect to get the "oh sorry it's not EXACTLY the same item" song and dance.

Well for me that is what price match means ...they are not going to match a similar item as it is not the exact same product.

Most places I deal with price match it has to be the same product and the item has to be in stock at the same time

Re: Getting the Best out of Iboats Pt.2.

I kinda see a "price match" as a bit of a gimmick. If I find a lower price on something somewhere I'll buy it rather than having to wrestle with a sales associate begging for the price match. Also, the place that offers that lower price has done their homework to bring me the best deal. Nice job and well done! I kinda feel that they deserve my biz.

I tried the iboats price match a few times and none went very well for me. I really want very much for them them to have my business but the hassle factor isn't worth trying to "price match".

The only time I personally use a "price match" is when I stop by the local West Marine as I need something right away. I was pleasantly surprised at their willingness and flexibility to go this route.

Also, "Price too low to advertise, put it in your cart to see the price" is another gimmick. I see they have gone this direction too.

I have bought a bunch of stuff from iboats as I could find what I needed at a super price. The same holds true for other online suppliers as too.

Whoever has great pricing, great stuff and great service will certainly win my hard earned bux.

Cheers

Re: Getting the Best out of Iboats Pt.2.

i gotta agree with the whole price match and shipping. i have tried to get a lot of stuff from them but the shipping pushed it over, where i could go to the local west marine and pay the same.

I do agree that we should try them as one of our bags, but they need to do better with shipping as well. the price match is a pita with them. they have great deals when you can find them that make it worth getting including the shipping often times of things i did not even think of yet but would like to get down the road. as we all do shop around being thrifty we should include our hosts, but the cheap ones will be the one that wins

Needed some filler so I thought that after reading about the price match from iboats I would give it a try. I looked up a pint of 3m premium filler from iboats at 28.93 and asked for the price match because amazon had it for 25.77. The gentleman that I talked to at iboats said that they would not match it because amazon has it priced below iboats cost. So much for that.

Dude .. your putty is being supplied by another third party that does not even have a website up with prices ..

Why would you not supply Iboats to the appropriate website ( NOT Amazon who is second hand dealer ) ??

The supply is being provided by Grand Slam .. http://www.grandslamsports1.com/servlet/StoreFront

As far as I can tell there is NO price match other then what they say on Amazon .. and Amazon is NOT a dealer for "in-stock item from any nationally recognized U.S. marine Internet retailer"

I saw something on Ebay .. should I try to ask Iboats to Match that price ?? LOL ..

Troll all you like.. but facts are facts .. Please do not try to De-rail Iboats ship stores on something so simple as an Amazon site LOL ..

Next time Anyone Post some kind of ' Iboats didnt price match ' .. Please post up your current 'best buy' online Links..

Really .. .. you can say what you want .. but if you have Links and addys then Post them .. I would like to know.

Re: Getting the Best out of Iboats Pt.2.

I read this thread and found out about the iboats price match and since I had items to order for my project, I thought that I would do a search thru a popular website that list the best possible prices on the web for the products that I needed. When iboats was not on that list I looked up the product to see how far off iboats was compared to the others.

Amazon had the best price and if they had to bring a third party to the table to help me save a little money on my project then good for them. And as for that third party that ?does not even have a website up with prices? ?.. Anyone that actually looked at the site would have seen that they were down for maintenance which happens from time to time even here at iboats.

I am new to boating and to this type of forum but I was under the impression that we were to post our experiences, good or bad, so that others may learn from them or give advice that may help.

YD, I have great respect for you and your knowledge and have learned a tremendous amount from your postings and advice as well as advice from other experts here on iboats. I merely posted my experience with this price match and am in no way trying to ?de-rail iboats ship stores? and to suggest that this may be my intention is rather insulting. As for the e-bay comment (which I find hard to believe came from someone of your status) it was so ridiculous that it doesn?t even warrant a reply.

I have enjoyed both the forums and the products here at iboats which has become part of my boating life. I would not have accomplished any of the repairs and rebuilding on my boat without the help of the experts here. I admit that I am guilty of not reading the price match policy but instead only the info here on this thread and didn?t even know that there were ?nationally recognized U.S. marine internet retailers?. (Still looking for a list of them)

My only intention for posting on this thread was to share my experience with this topic. My conversation with the iboats rep on the phone was very professional and courteous and at no time did he state that he would not even try to match the price because it wasn?t from a ?nationally recognized U.S. marine internet retailers? but instead explained the reason that the price could not be matched.

I have made purchases in the past from the iboats store and have received a quality product, in a timely manner, and was very pleased with the experience.

Contrary to what is written ?.. My only intention here was to save a little money on a can of putty.

Re: Getting the Best out of Iboats Pt.2.

This is precisely why I said...

I kinda see a "price match" as a bit of a gimmick.

Take a look at the bold font in YD's response. I see stuff like:

"Low Price Guarantee - Quick and Simple"

Well in light of Jon's experience, not much of a guarantee.

Quick and simple? Ah, not so much. In review of the steps it's far more of a hassle than to just buy from a place with a better price.

With headings like:

"Buy With Confidence", "We Won't Be Beat" - these are pretty bold statements. They gotta be backed up.

YD I do believe you are coming on a bit strong by saying....

Troll all you like.. but facts are facts .. Please do not try to De-rail Iboats ship stores on something so simple as an Amazon site LOL .

The simple fact is Jon found a better price, tried the iboats store, fail.

Side note: I do believe that Amazon has established itself as a reputable online retailer.

Side note #2: I may be wrong on this, but I also believe iboats is a 3rd party vender as well. I know that I have received my orders from a variety of locations. If memory serves me I have had to pay multiple shipping charges for my iboats order as my stuff is coming from different distributors/retailers. Similar to Amazon.

I have no interest in talking badly about iboats, seriously. I love em, I do! But as you say YD "facts are facts" and Jon was just sharing his dealings, seems more than reasonable to me.

Have a great Friday yall:)

Re: Getting the Best out of Iboats Pt.2.

Ok Guys here's where Im at, I wrote a list (about 30-40 items) that Im going to buy over the next couple of months for my boat. this includes a bolster seat and pedestal, pop up cleats, rub rail, gauges, controls, ignition, lights, switches, bilge pump, even the cup holders are getting done. there is more on the list but I can't remember off the top of my head. anyway I spent nearly a week getting prices, iboats managed to fill my cart for $2379 for EVERYTHING, I got close on getting all the parts at my marine parts supplier (nearly identical brands too) all I was missing was the seat.................... they came too $3900 . now the seat im looking at is a $400 seat
http://www.iboats.com/Aergo-240-Bri...3303625--**********.270052481--view_id.686759
I managed to find a similar seat here for $700. now even with shipping Iboats will be at least $1500 cheaper than the prices We have here in aus:facepalm:. All I can say is that the couple of little things Ive ordered so far have arrived to me in 5 days. Thats from america to rural australia in 5 days im IMPRESSED. I will be putting my entire order in with iboats, and unless its a part I need straight away I will probably continue to buy from them for the foreseeable future. THUMBS UP IBOATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! plus I have to say, its so convienient I can order things while I get my fix on the iboats forum, it great :D

Why didnt you just post that in the first place ? The only 'sharing of experience' from your post was in a negative way. There was Nothing positive in your response about Iboats store in your first post.

Sorry If I slammed you too much..but your response seemed kinda slanted.

Im just saying there may be a way to utilize the Iboats store ..

YD.

Thats all Im sayin guys. I saw something that was being offered from Iboats that I KNEW some of us could take advantage of and that was that. Im not saying use Iboats for EVERYthing. Just check them for yourself.

Sorry If I suggested anything else ..
