I recently aquired a project boat that I am triing to restore. Upon a closer inspection of the trailer today I discovered a crack in the frame.

it looks as though the previous owner caught the furthermost rear support on some thing and "peeled" the joint open. I am a proficient welder but I would like to remove the boat from the trailer to give it a thorough inspection as well as redo the wiring.

What is the sfest\easiest way to remove a boat from its trailer.

What about support for the boat while the trailer is being fixed.

any help or pictures would be greatly apreciated.
It is a 14' ceebee avenger with a 100 merc on it.

Never done this myself, but on other posts they have mentioned lowering the tongue of the trailer so you can put a stack (tires I think) under each rear corner of the boat. Then raise the tongue and place a stack on either side under the hull up front. The you can gradually ease the trailer out/forward, readjusting the front stacks until you can get the trailer out. Or you could just make some jacks/cradles out of wood and do the same thing.

I tied my stern eyes to a tree and slowly pulled the trailer out from under the boat..I have a rollor trailer dont know if that would work with bunks..

Credit to Tashasdaddy:

What i have done is lower the bow, block up on both side of the transom with cinder block, and wood on top, you can put smaller pieces under the larger top piece, to conform to the angle of the hull, then jack up the bow, stearn lift off trailer, keep jacking and block up keel and lower front of trailer . boat is suspended in the air.

OH well i'll have to read how to post pictures again.

That sound like a good idea but the trailers last roller sticks out behind the transom. how do you get past that?

get some friends and push the boat back on the trailer, may have to connect trailer to tow vehicle to hold trailer.

What we did was sit these spare platforms (kinda like solid pallets) right behind the trailer. Put 4 x 6's as bunks. Tipped the front up real high. Started to losen winch strap and pushed the boat backwards. Bunk trailer with keel rollers. Worked great all three times. Putting back on was even easier. Tip up the trailer and pull the boat with the winch.

Used a little floor jack to get it as high as I could, then held it up with straps hung over the trusses in my garage.
Lowered the jack, repeat procedure in the front.
Remove trailer.

the hanging by trusses works well also. suggest using a 4x4 slid across the trusses to distribute the weight.then hang it by the 4x4, don't hang it just by one truss.

Re: Getting the boat of the trailer at home.

I'm a late entry on this post, but maybe a future reader will find it useful. I got some heavy duty casters from Harbor Freight and built a 4x4 frame on them with bunks that matched what was on my trailer (two bunks with 4x4 posts directly below). Then blocked the wheels, hooked a winch to the transom loops, and pulled the boat off the trailer onto my rolling platform. (if your area is not flat or you don't need to move the boat, the wheels aren't necessary). After working on the trailer, I just rolled the boat to the back of the trailer (bunk to bunk) hooked up the loading winch and cranked it back on. Piece of cake!

I hope the OP hasn't been staring at his boat on the trailer all this time wondering how to get it off. Bet he drank a lot of beer waiting.
