i have been trying to gain access to the gear case to change the seals. i drained the gear lube after about 10-15 hrs use and it was cappacino with a hint of green.
So the bolts were stuck in the cap and i didnt have access to a impact screwdriver for 24 hrs so sprayed deep creep on the bolts and let sit overnight.
This morn my broh shows up with the impact driver and acetylene torch in case things got ugly:mad:

The screws came right out with a couple whack of the driver and me and my friend had to do some other stuff .
long story short he left with the torches and i still cant get the cap off the gear case.

Do you guys have any suggestions?I only have access to deep creep a mallet and other such tools LOL

after i open her up im sure i will have some questions on the seals and lube applicatiions "he said lube "lol

thanks in advance this place is truly a godsend to the boater world.

Apply heat, a heat gun, paint stripper or even a quality hair drier can sometimes loosen the worst of gunk.

Thankyou 4 the quick responses. I have already removed the shift yoke pin. But i have not tried my wifes hairdryer yet and that sounds like the next step.

Is this normal. I do run her in saltwater and i have only had the boat for 7 mo or so.

thanks again

I thought you said he loosened the screws with the impact driver? That is the secret to getting them out. And the proper way to put them back in also. They are supposed to be tight.

Salt water doesn't normally get in those screw threads because of the seal caused by being tight. But who knows??
