I am getting ready to install my Gimbal Housing (1979 #1 Drive Merc 228). I have the outside seal and just noticed another seal shown in a parts diagram. Merc Part # 41802. Is this a seal to the exhaust pipe Y ? or am I missing something? My Y has a large circular O ring and 2 smaller O rings.

thanks

Ed

Re: Gimbal Housing seal question

what manual and page are you referring to. the transom housing is generally a foam ring seal or a cork gasket seal.

Why are you looking at Bravo parts diagrams?

Here is what you should be looking at.

Re: Gimbal Housing seal question

Don, this is a link that shows why I got confused. if you see the heading......it is for all but Bravo drives, so I thought maybe I was missing something. I looked up the part number and it matched a Bravo exhaust seal. 41802

also, my gimbal housing has a groove for a round rubber seal, not the flat cork style shown for my 1979 228 mercruiser in your diagram above.
