Im trying to fill a litle hole on my gimbla housing, but cant find what kind of metal it is made off.. I tried aluminum solder but it wont stick. I have a 1997 27' rinker
Dubbs I think he is talking about the galvic corrosion around the gimbal ring hinge pin
Filling it with solder, JB Weld, etc, will make no difference to the strength of your gimbal ring. If you're doing it for looks, any automotive plastic filler (Bondo, etc) will fill it in and make it invisible under a coat of paint. Not sure why you'd want to fill it for looks, it's under the trim senders anyway .....
Just bolt a trim sender over it (working or not, up to you) and you'll never see it.
I would think JB Weld would do the job, however I would seriously consider having bushings installed into the hinge pin holes, they look pretty rough.
