Hey Guys,

Any idea where I can find the swivel pin bearing that sits in the bottom of the gimbal ring? This happens to be a needle bearing contraption...

Thanks,
Tom VB

Try the 'Gimbal swivel pin bearing' shop....

Joking aside, assuming it's a Mercruiser, and an earlier model (they did away with bearings in the lower a long time ago) the part number is 31-32538, and will cost you about $17, try any Merc dealer, or on-line, like www.mercruiserparts.com Or knock it out and take it to a bearing specialist and buy one for 1/4 the price.

So am I correct in assuming there is no way to "upgrade" from the needle bearing version to the nylon replacement they came up with in later years?

I believe that is correct. IMHO the new bushing is not an upgrade, just a cheap substitution. Just keep it greased.
