I have read here that a gimbal bearing should have movement like a ball and socket joint. How much movement should there be? On mine, I can bump the tool and I don't see or feel any movement. Or, if I pull hard on the tool, there seems to be no movement also. Is this how it should be?

Re: Gimball bearing

I think the ball and socket movement you are talking aboutdeals with the bearing itself to the place where the bearing is held. This bearing holder has notches on both sides so you can flip the bearing 90 degrees and remove it.
Should not be movement in your bearing... but check it for rust, pits, etc that would hinder proper operation. As long as she looks good turns freely and has no play, you are good to go.

It is for slight alignment so the bar will hit the coupler and should/will not move with the alignment bar all the way into the coupler.

There is a video available on here showing how to do it.
