Gimble Bearing/Bellows Life Span

I pulled my drive to replace the water pump (1984 Sea Ray), (drive replaced in 1997 with new Alpha one) and have been debating what else I need to do at this point. When the drive was replaced in 1997 the gimble bearing, lower shift cable and all bellows were replaced. That is 8.5 years ago now. The gimble turns smoothly and the u-joint bellows looks good (no cracks even when seperating and looking inside the folds of rubber with a flashlight). Should I go ahead and replace these items now even though everything appears fine? Thanks in advance for your help.

I would say you got the best out of the bellows and gimbal at this point.I would replace them now before you have to replace them under less convenient circumstances.In the long run it can save you a bunch.

I can see that you are some kind of brain surgeon or nuclear scientist or something. If you don't know the life span of something the best way to find out is to ask. Isn't that what this forum is all about. Get a life.
