gimble bearing.. how far does it go in?

It goes in until it bottoms out and doesn't go in any further. Sorry I can't be more technical than that.
Are you using the correct driver tool? If your not you might have cocked it.

what if i did not install the grease seal.is that bad or should i pull the bearing back out and put it in?

Yes it's bad that you didn't install the seal, but, if you pull the gimbal bearing, it will be bad also.

Yup... if you pull the bearing you'll ruin it, and have to buy a new one.

YES no seal is a bad idea, pull it all back out. You'll probably need a new Gimble Bearing though. The genuine Volvo parts come with an installation booklet that also tells you the tool numbers (ie special tools needed). The booklet kinda reads like stereo instruction but you'll be able to get a better idea of what your doing by reading it. hope this helps and good luck!

i just went and stuck the finger in there.i never pulled it out. we are good and its all the way in i got 3mm
