Gimble to housing

Are there supposed to be spacers where the two boats go in and hold the gimbal where the trim sensors are? I have put it back in and I have play side to side and it's been two or three months since I took it apart and I think I might have misplaced some parts

Is this an Alpha or Bravo stern drive system and what year roughly?

And, are you talking about the two bolts (actually threaded pins) that hold the bell housing inside the gimbal ring? If so and this is an alpha drive, yes there are spacers between the gimbal ring and the bell housing, one on each side. They are available if you lost yours.
