gimble to transom

is there some type of gasket or sealer for gimble to transom,as i need to replace inside transom plate (broken steer cable ear) and does inner have gasket or sealer aswell? thanks chris

People use the word "Gimbal" a lot, but it doesn't mean much since there isn't a part known as a "Gimbal"
There is a Gimbal Ring, Gimbal housing (aka transom shield on outside of boat) and a Gimbal Bearing.
People also use the word GIMBAL when referring to Volvo intermediate housings, which have absolutely nothing to do with a gimbal.

confusion must be with these marine terms- 1975 fiberglass boat mercruiser mc outdrive- Question is, On the back of fiberglass boat is there any kind of gasket or sealer that goes between fiberglass and metalpart of Mercruiser assembly that mounts to rear against fiberglass,inside the boat or outside the boat that prevents water from coming in, or do i rely on superior mercruiser surface sealing against boat manfacturers superior gelcoat surface to seal mating area , thanks chris

Ayuh,... There IS a Gasket on the Outside,...
And,..
No,.. there is No gasket on the Inside...
