Hi,
I recently purchased a 78 glastron which appears to have some rotton wood in the transom where the motor bolts on and a friend told me to use git rot. Has anyone used this product and what can yu tell me about it? also has anyone used seacast?
Thanks,
Chris

Check on Wellcraft V-20 website you will see a lot of pictures of Sea-cast transom repairs these boats were prone to rotten tramsons. Mine was rebuilt when I bought the Sea-cast works well....

I tried Git Rot on a floor many years ago and found it to be useless. It does not penatrate well.

Re: Git ROT??

I agree with you solittle about penetration of Git Rot. On the two occasions I used it, it did work extremely well for me. I got a 1/4" drill bit that was 2'-0" long and drilled down into the rotten transom for the top and poured the Git Rot in and it dried hard as a rock. The thing with git rot is the more rotten the better. If the wood is not extremely rotten it will not penetrate well and it is extremely expensive.

Another product which is supposed to work well in Rot Doctor. Available at rotdoctor.com I used the product on exposed wood and seemed to work well.

Re: Git ROT??

Mopar if you have the time and money invest in some poxy, cloth and ply. Fixing it half way will only get you half results. I hear the csps works well but im pretty sure you still need to remove all the rot. I see alot of people at the marina try to sister up steel across the transom for a temp fix... I have seen atleast 2 boats have their engines walk away because of this,, It really depends on the extent of the rot and whats left of the structure
Good Luck
