JS, looks like the original cuddy cabin. You going to restore it as the model in the brochure? How will you unpaint it, for starters?<br /><br />Also, I liked your last picture. Got one near like it. Red interior and all.<br /><br />

I'm envious! You have a fair bit of work ahead of you there but it looks reasonably straightforward, and you'll have a nice boat with historic interest when it's finished. There can't be too many of those original kit boats left now.

Hey Everyone - Yea, that add on part up top is going to come off. It's sort of nice because it gives you some extra head room in the cabin but it doesn't go with the lines of the boat and kind of makes it look like a tug...<br /><br />First things first - I'm going to get a lead paint test kit today to see what I'm dealing with. After I test it, I'm going to brush out all the junk and start sanding/scraping/removing paint. Then, according to a book I've been reading, there is a particular epoxy/sealer that is good, so I'll look into getting that. A good friend of mine is trying to talk me into leaving the natural wood or using some thin planking instead of painting. I'm not sure which route to go ... I like the idea of a wood boat showing wood but it also looks nice painted up red and white.<br /><br />I've got a couple of questions about cleaning up the hull that I'll post in a new thread.<br /><br />Boomyall, I wish that was my Mustang but it's not. It was in the garage across the street and the camera zoomed in on it nicely. You've got a real nice looking pony though! My Fiancee and I are both huge classic Mustang fanatics and as soon as I told her about your post and picture she said "OOHH!!! Is it for sale!?!? Where's he live!!?!?!?". I think she's figuring that since I got this boat, she's getting a Mustang...I hope she does - I'd love to drive it!!

I guessed that drawings might not be available, unless anyone had a set of original factory drawings, or someone had pulled apart an old boat and had the foresight to trace the parts.<br />I have some copies of brochures myself, and stuff in Chris Craft books too, but if you find somewhere to post yours I'd like to know in case there's something I don't have.<br />I just thought it would be really cool to build a replica Chris Craft kit boat, the 14' De Luxe Runabout is nice, and with an appropriate motor on the back (Commander of course) would be great! The Express Cruisers are nice too, although rather more work involved.

I have original detailed instructions and drawings for a 16' Chris Craft Outboard Express Cruise. These came with the boat I purchased off a guy who's father and uncle built in the late 1950's. I could scan copies for you if you'd like? I am in the middle of restoring the boat. Will post pics of it someday.
