Glassing a livewell

Does anyone have any experience with glassing a livewell to the underside of the deck? I have a 25, maybe 30 gallon livewell and I am worried about the weight issue. Will 1.5 oz. CSM and 10 oz. cloth be sufficient? Thank you in advance!

are you saying that you want to glass it to the bottom of the deck, by hanging it with fiberglass from the deck?

While the glass would most likely hold if you used epoxy and the right weight glass, I think that I would want support beneath it to keep it stabilized and not warping the deck from the weight of the water pulling down on it, or keep it from rubbing on the hull, eventually creating a hole or crack in the livewell/hull.

Yes, it looked like the manufacturer added another piece of ply to the livewell hatch area under the deck and then glassed it just like you mentioned. There was also a piece of roving tabbed to the lower wall of the livewell that was also connected to the hull.

I plan to do the same, or something similar, but I just wanted more input on what method would be best. How are most livewells installed? I'm just a little hesitant to rush the installation and have something fail after all of the effort, sweat, dust, and beer put into it.

Ayuh,... 30 gallons is about 250lbs... I'd want it supported from Below....

You can glass it to the deck, but support,+ structure still needs to be there....
