Got the supports fabbed up, going to thrown them in tomorrow hopefully. Used ply and 2x, and wood glued them together. So now I have a nice block to lay on the (uneven but sanded) bilge floor. Do I just want to glop PB on the floor and side of the stringers, or pre-wrap the blocks with glass, or coat with resin first, or put a layer of CSM between the transom floor and the wood block, or...

Yup. Make your PB thick and spatula it on. Just like setting bricks in mortar, you want it filling every void. Cut the excess off with a plastic 'bondo' body work spatula. Nice rounded inside corners.

And one more time - No gel coat between mounts and hull/stringers.

I assume you mean sand it well. I've got roving down there, so it's kind of strange, can't sand it all the way down without going all the way through. I belt sanded, then did it by hand after.

I used a disk grinder and got 99% of the gelcoat off. Gel makes a poor substrate. Do the best you can.

Mike,

I am at the same point in my restoration, what did you wind up doing?
How much glass did you put over the mounts. I saw friscoboater did two of 1708 on his, as I remember.
