Thanks!

I have a yellow 2007 GT185. Haven't seen any updates for 2008 since '07 was the first year of GT. I've got the VP 135 and would have liked the V6 but couldn't justify $2500 for what I, personally, deemed as a luxury for my use (kids are 2 and 5 so no water skiing for quite some time).

I don't have one yet, but hopefully this week!
Won't be able to run it until spring, though...

When you get one let me know...I am starting to wonder why I am the only one with one....I did my research and it seemed like a really well built boat...and so far I have loved it.

Why not use it in winter? I sure am.

Buying one in the next few weeks, what kind of pricing did you get? (I'm in Canada so pricing is a little higher here) I was going with the xl package, bimmi top and the 4.3 engine.

Re: Glastron 2008 GT185 - Anyone have one?

Paid $21,500.....I think I got a fair price but its hard to tell. If I go off of what others are selling them for on the internet I got a good price. When I bought it I thought I was buying a 2007. The boat was on the semi when I bought it so I didn't even get to see the boat I was getting. When I went to insure it I asked them to pull the information from the boat and they discovered it was a 2008....The manager said the usual...my loss your gain and gave it to me for the same price.

I paid for a custom cover (That price includes it) and it is the XL package. I opted not to get the Bimini because I was told that they dont hold up really well if your cruising. This boat is fast! When it first came in they had to take it out for the test drive after they finished prepping it...and they guy said he was actually racing jet skiers and beating them. I thought yeah right! I use to own a jet ski and I know how quick they are.

Sure enough...I can get that boat to 55 everytime (52 if it is loaded down and fully fueled) and it plains and rests nicely in about 3 seconds. It may not be as fast as all the jet skis on the water but it sure gives most of them a good challenge.

I love it!

Re: Glastron 2008 GT185 - Anyone have one?

I have an '08 185. I got it in late July (first one off the line to make it to NY) and spent the summer on it. Great boat. Only had one problem with the distributor...went bad, replaced quickly by the dealer with no beefs at all. Fit and finish is very good. the boat is VERY tight. It manuvers well and handles rough water well (I would expect no less from Glastron).

Mine has the 3.0 VP in it. Top speed is about 47 1/2 loaded. 39 fully loaded. I have to admit being wishy-woshy about buying the 3.0, but I decided that fuel on the water at $4.00 per gallon would be the deciding factor. I was happy I went with the 3.0. Power is ample, boat is plenty fast, and I can go all weekend on 10 gallons of fuel. I pulled water skiers and tubers over the summer. Not quite enough "pop" for water sking, but it was fine once the skier was up. Tubing was fine- plenty of power.

This is my second Glastron. I really like them, would buy another in a heartbeat. Lots of bang for the buck.

Re: Glastron 2008 GT185 - Anyone have one?

I bought the GT185 last month and finally got my 1st 20 hours on it last weekend. Generally it's only my wife and I cruising the local lakes and we've had a blast. I've made a few rookie mistakes like cutting a real tight turn and popping air from my own wake at 35 MPH... dumb but fun!!! I went with the 3.0L Penta because of the price of gas and will be adding a K&N filter when I take it in for it's 20hr service. I'll let ya know if I get push back from my dealer. Need to replace the filter bolt because the Volvo filter is about an inch shorter in height than the K&N chromed hat. Should look really sweet sitting on top of all that red.

Re: Glastron 2008 GT185 - Anyone have one?

Since this topic floated to the top, I guess I'll post too. I have a 2007 with 4.3, XL package, bimini, and upgraded trailer. Bought it new as a closeout a couple months ago, $18995+tax.

Love it so far. It was between this and a 175 MX w/3.0. Decided to go with the GT for the extended swim platform and 4.3. For our family(3 little ones) the extended swim platform is wonderful. The kids are up and down it, jumping in the lake when we stop... As for the motor, I don't have anything to compare it to(besides my old 85hp Johnny, to which there's really no comparison), but so far the 4.3 seems plenty stout, so no complaints. I'm hitting the scales at around 255 right now(pending diet/exercise results), so I figured the extra grunt would be helpful dragging me up on my slalom.

With just me aboard, mine does 55-56 on the speedo, but the gps has only shown 53.4 so far as a top speed. Only 10 hours into the break in thus far.

Only issues so far have been a misadjusted carb from the factory which was causing a fast idle and some dieseling after shutting it off, my hour meter stopped working 1.9 hours in, and a speaker wire came loose. All fixed by the dealer with no issues. No problems since then...knock on wood.

Re: Glastron 2008 GT185 - Anyone have one?

we have an 08 gt 185 ski & fish. 130hp merc, red. we love it. it's at the marina right now getting the bimini installed.

ended up financing the whole thing at $26,xxx. after having it for a while, i'm not sure it was worth that price. i was thinking more towards $22,xxx. either way we're happy with it and enjoy it. we've had it out 5 times so far this year making sure we get the money's worth.

Re: Glastron 2008 GT185 - Anyone have one?

I have the GT 180 with a 150 E-tec. Got it a couple of weeks ago. The boat is pretty much the same as the 185. I am very happy with the fit and finish. The sound system is nice and the entire boat seems to be designed well. It handles real well in heavy chop and I get virtually no bow rise when I take off. We had it on Lake Mojave in 35 MPH winds. For a small boat it really handled well. The outboard was an extra 7k but for me it was worth it. The torque the E-tecs put out is incredible. I can pull out two slalom skiiers with ease.

The only problems were related to dealer set up. I don't think they do many outboards. The engine was mounted on the top hole (too low) and the two stroke oil line was not purged. I got less than a half mile from the dock on my maiden voyage when the alarm went off due to an air bubble in the oil line. Fortunately, I had been reading heavily on an E-tec web site and was able to solve both problems myself. I also lost a screw on the bimini top on the way back from the river. It's probably a good idea to check the tightness every so often.

Love the boat

Re: Glastron 2008 GT185 - Anyone have one?

We just recently bought an 08 GT 185 with Bemini, XL package and 4.3 Volvo Penta. I was used to boating from early childhood through teen years. My parents then sold the boat and I haven't been boating in years. This is the first boat my wife and I have owned. I have to agree with what has already been posted. The boat handles really well, takes the chop and waves pretty good and has very little bow rise on take off. It will run about 55 on the speedo with 4 people and almost full tank of gas. Of course the speedo could be off a little but I have to say it runs pretty fast with a load. I have had nothing but praise for the dealer where I purchased the boat. The only problems I have had so far are with a possible needed throttle cable adjustment. Dealer is taking care of that right now. Overall I have to say I really like this boat and would recommend it to anyone looking for a smaller bowrider for having fun filled days on inland lakes.

I have a 2007 gt with 3.0 Mercruiser. I am living in Norway and use it for transportation to my holiday cottage, water skiing and driving in our beautiful skerries.

Glastron - this must be the coolest bow rider. I am very pleased.
Cost me more than for you guys, apr. 28000 dollars for a used one (only 5 hours used). Boating is more expensive in Norway than in the USA :p

Re: Glastron 2008 GT185 - Anyone have one?

Bought one new in '08. And love it. Full load w/ 4.3, Bimini and tower. Came stock w 1.81 gear ratio and 23p prop and had top speed of 58mph light load. Went to a 21p for a little more pull out of the hole. Yards my 210lb carcass out reasonably( on a single slalom) w 3 passengers and full load.(including anchor, portable BBQ, and gf's purse!) Great boat! Started out with a carlson cvx16ss which was a way better ski boat but zero space for the Gf and a wee bit scary in even a small swell. Hope you're enjoying your boat!
