Re: glastron carlson cv 21 455 jet

hello
that is like asking how high is up. most of the jet 455 motors were modified in some fashion. so how much horse power is it making and what size is the impeller in the pump. is it stainless or alumium?
gotta have more info. the 455 in my 442 is about 500 ponies. but I have played with it since 1980. the stock w-30 motor was rated at 370. olds made 455/425 engines from about 190 hp to about 410 hp. and they are very easy to extract more ponies from. the rocker stud kit that you can buy to make the valve train adjustable I designed and got a free cam from competition cams back in the early 80's. I used bigblock chev adjustable studs, drilled the original 5/16ths holes to 7/16ths 14 and sawed the legs and briges from the olds rocker stands. I used a 3/16th ss plate and the stock chev lock nut. after much consulting with comp cams I told them how and what I had done. now they make a kit that is a bolt on for about 20 ponies more if you use the correct block and cam.
so its back to how high is up.
good luck and keep posting.
ps, with cast pistons they tend to part at the wrist pin at about 5200 rpm, forged I can turn to almost 6, 7200 if I dont hold it.
