Started thinking about the deck. I think this is my current plan of action:

Deck glass estimate:

Step 1: Coat 1/2" ply with resin

Step 2: layer of 1.5oz mat on both sides of 1/2" ply

Estimate deck at 53"x141" (widest point on deck is 53", longest 141")

= 3x 50" x 53" strips mat = 55.2 sq. ft. mat per side
= 110.4 sq. ft. mat

Step 3: Put in place and screw down - strips of wetted mat between deck and stringers.

Step 4: glass to hull flange - first course, 1.5 oz mat strips with 4" overlap onto deck and hull.

12 x 8" width (4" overlap on hull/deck) x 36" strips (2" overlap between strips)
2 x 8" width x 6" strips

= 12x36"x8" + 2x6"x8" = 24.7 sq. ft. mat

Step 5: Glass to hull flange with 1708 biax - 8" overlap onto hull and deck.

12 x 16" width (8" overlap on hull/deck) x 36" strips (2" overlap between strips)
2 x 16" width x 6" strips

= 12x36"x16" + 2x6"x16" = 49.3 sq. ft. 1708 biax

Step 6: Glass entire deck with 9-10oz cloth, overlap 4" onto hull

4x61" (53" + 2x 4" overlap) x 50" (width of glass roll) strips.

=4x61"x50" = 84.7 sq. ft.

Totals:

Mat:110.4 + 24.7 = 135.1

Biax: 49.3 sq. ft.

Cloth: 84.7 sq. ft.

Resin: ((135.1 sq. ft.)*(4oz/sq. ft.)*(1 gallon/128oz)) + ((49.3 sq. ft.)*(1 gallon/36 sq. ft.)) + ((84.7 sq. ft.)*(1 gallon/58.5 sq. ft.)) ~= 7 gallons

Mat: 10.5 sq. ft. + 7.5 sq. ft. + 5.5 sq. ft. = 23.5 sq. ft.

Biax: 5.5 sq. ft. + 7.5 sq. ft. = 13 sq. ft.

Resin: ((23.5 sq. ft.)*(4oz/sq. ft.)*(1 gallon/128oz)) + ((13 sq. ft.)*(1 gallon/36 sq. ft.)) ~= 1.1 gallon

Stringer fiberglass estimate:

Totals:

Mat: 20.9 + 10.3 + 35.4 + 17.5 = 84.1 sq. ft. mat.

Biax: 43.8 + 21.6 = 65.4 sq. ft. biax.

Resin: ((84.1 sq. ft.)*(4oz/sq. ft.)*(1 gallon/128oz)) + ((65.4 sq. ft.)*(1 gallon/36 sq. ft.)) ~= 4.5 gallons

Deck glass estimate:

Totals:

Mat:110.4 + 24.7 = 135.1

Biax: 49.3 sq. ft.

Cloth: 84.7 sq. ft.

Resin: ((135.1 sq. ft.)*(4oz/sq. ft.)*(1 gallon/128oz)) + ((49.3 sq. ft.)*(1 gallon/36 sq. ft.)) + ((84.7 sq. ft.)*(1 gallon/58.5 sq. ft.)) ~= 7 gallons

Final tally:

Mat: 23.5 sq. ft. + 84.1 sq. ft. + 135.1 = 242.7 sq. ft.

Biax:13 + 65.4 + 49.3 = 127.7 sq. ft.

Cloth: 84.7 sq. ft.

Resin: 7 + 4.5 + 1.1 = 12.6 gallons

thread resurrection.. i wonder how this went.. i have a v147 too!
