Glue Question...

I recently used Seamseal and it seems like a good product, but it's real expensive.

Does anyone know if there is a comparable product that's cheaper? It seems an awful lot like silicon caulking to me. Any chance I could use that with PVC?
And what about using contact cement to re glue a seam?

Re: Glue Question...

Silicone caulk will stick to PVC, but does not have the mechanical strength to make a good bond. It is almost impossible to remove other than using an abrasive wheel (not pleasant), so repairs become very difficult. Most inflatable boat repair places won't touch boats with caulk or other misapplied glues. Contact cement is not appropriate either. The volatile components can damage PVC coatings. Don't end up on a three hour tour to campy adventure. Buy two part glue and follow the right procedure. NRS sells relativley small cans of Stabond. http://www.nrsweb.com/
and here are the real directions (ignore the simplified instruction that come with the can).
