So far as I know just a good quality contact cement troweled on..but that's not gospel 'til you hear it three times here, I've been ignorant before... ;-) I have a gelled contact cement (DAP Weldwood) that I really love for spreading. It is thicker than the brush on and smooth to spread. I'd think using a 1/16" notched trowel and following instructions would do it.
