Hi, I want to add 2 D rings on the inside of my new 12' Saturn. From what I figured out I thought that I have to do this with the tubes collapsed. Last week I was watching Discovery channel and on a short documentary was shown how the inflatables boats are build . in spite of my assumption they should that the D-ring ware glued to the fully inflated boat.
Does anybody have more experience with this?
Thank you
Paul

I have also read instructions where it is recommended to apply accessories on deflated tubes so you could firmly rub them down. I have had no success in manipulating the boat to get a flat stable surface to glue on with the tubes deflated. There have always been issues with the fabric wanting to roll or pull one way or another. To glue anything well it needs to be set up to apply smoothly and easily with no hassles or tension on the material that can lead it to pull free before curing. I have glued all of my d rings on with the tubes fully inflated. It is easy to position and work the d ring down on to a fully inflated tube. It is necessary to glue patches over leaks without significant air pressure in the tubes, otherwise you will get a separation from the air pressure in the center of your patch. Floor material, transoms, d rings and the like have worked best for me when glued on inflated tubes. Be sure to follow all of the glue steps for a proper bond.

Yep, glue the rings on with the tubes inflated to their normal opererating pressure. Make sure you buy ring patches that are made for PVC boats and not hypalon and also get the proper glue. www.nrsweb.com has all the materials you need to do a professional job and instructions on how to do it.

Yes, glue with sib inflated to a minimum of 3.0 PSI, don't glue over seams, just plain flat surfaces, before gluing mark with a pen the patch circumference to fabric where you will be gluing so to have 2 well centered new patches. Follow 2 part gluing procedures and recommendations, will need a roller tool or a spoon to flaten patch to fabric and take all air out of it.

Happy Boating
