Gluvit vs. 5200

I am replacing some below water line rivets with stainless bolts. Which would do the best job at priming the bolt against leaks? I have used Gluvit on rivets but never on ss bolts. Will it adhere as well on the ss?

Thanks, Floyd

Either one will work fine....... use what you have on hand.

Re: Gluvit vs. 5200

It is primarily going to be in fresh water with a trip or two a year in the bay. It will be trailered. I do have an aircraft rivet gun and I have replaced about 250 rivets with the original solid rivets already. What I am attaching now is the knee brace. I can use the solid rivets like were originally there or I can go with ss bolts. Which do you think makes the most sense given the little time in the salt? I didn't ever want to go under the deck again and thought the bolts may be the most reliable.

Thanks, Floyd

Maybe a little late but I would say 5200 over Gluvit. Gluvit is real expensive comparatively and with 5200 you can reclose the tube & work at a more leisurely pace if you have lots to do.

Re: Gluvit vs. 5200

I actually have both and I only mix small portions of the Gluvit at a time. The issue is more whether or not to use solid aluminum rivets, which I have, or ss bolts, which I have and based on which I use would the Gluvit or the 5200 be the most effective. It is starting to sound like all options are OK.

Personally, I would use the 5200, just easier to use IMO. No mixing, thicker, does not get brittle.

Thanks lakelover. It also seems like whatever I get the 5200 on, it is never coming off of. (hands, clothes, table, etc.)
