Fun ain't it,,, I had to do this on my 96' S-10 with the 4.3V6, and still I invented new cuss words!

A handy tip here, I found on my own after many years of wrenching, an old antifreeze container on it's flat side works good for holding push rods inline, in order, and catches the excess oil! Just poke them into it right side up!

Let me correct my last post. You will have to pull the valve cover gaskets anyway. The way the intake and valve cover's overlap require the removal of the v-covers.

I knew that, and that's why I think the gaslets are in the set I bought.

Mik, I have used the cardboard for pushrods for years, but I like your tip on the jug. Now that you say it, it makes perfect sense!

Don't know if you have done the repair yet, but you might want to consider replacing the oil drive o-ring and gasket while you have the intake manifold out. Cheap and easy to do when you are already there. Tip for reassembling, start all intake manifold bolts before you tighten any. Like sportsmanphil said Do Not Overtorque, GM says to do it in a three phase process. If you are reusing the manifold bolts use medium strenght (blue) loctite
