GM 350 Ignition Distributor

Have GM 350(5.7)engine with Mallory 9-26306 magnetic breaker- less ignition.
Having problems with finding right ign. coil for this unit.
Anybody have instruction manual for it,please help.

Seen these instructions before but there is no 9-26306 mallory model.

What year, model, and serial#?

It is Volvo Penta AQ290A-GM 5.7 ,with replaced distributor by previous owner.

Engine dies when I shift to forward or reverse (Paragon transmission)
Also can't get more than 3100 RPM.

Use the stock coil. It will be fine. However why do you think its a coil issue?

I am not sure if stock coil will work with Magnetic Brakerless Ignition Distributor.

I am using a Sierra coil with my Mallory distributor on my modified 271C. The coil was replaced about a year prior to me replacing the distributor. I replaced the coil because the old one was leaking oil. replaced the distributor because a replacement Volvo-specifica ignition module for the Prestolite distributor was more than a new Mallory distributor. (Mallory is a division of Prestolite)

stock prestolite distributor was also magnetic pickup in my case.

Looking at the parts lists for a 290A, it shows a points distributor. Electrical System - 7744030 - Volvo Penta

If that is the case and your 290A had points, pick up a coil for a NON-ballast system and wire like the sketch that Maclin posted in post #4 of this post http://forums.iboats.com/volvo-pent...problem-timing-chain-volvo-aq271c-626161.html for your Mallory distributor.
