Interested in a boat that has a GM Vortex (4.5L 190 HP) engine. Never heard of this. Just wondering everyone's thoughts on this. It is in a 2000 four winns 180. It has just over 120 hours on it. How many hours are to be expected from this engine? Is that a lot? Thanks ahead of time.

GM 4.3L Vortec engines have been used in marine from the mid-90's.

Merc and Volvo used GM 4.3L engines. What drive do you have on the 4Winns? Or are you saying that someone installed a GM crate engine as a replacement?

The GM 4.3 is basicly the GM 350 minus two cylinders. It has a long and dependable history.

That 4.3 is very common, if you find a mech that won't/can't work on it, you need to fond another mechanic anyway.

Which drive assy is it attached to?
