I was running a 1977 Mercury 1150 down river at 4500 rpms when motor rev'd up and forward momentum decreased suddenly. Made it back to dock at idle, anything above 1500 rpm would slip. Someone said slip clutch went south. Anyone have this problem and how much trouble to fix. Thanks

Re: Go Forward Failure

Prop hub or shear pin failure.

Pull the prop. If there is a shear pin, replace it. If not, take it to a prop shop for re-hubbing.

Good luck. :)

Didn't appear to be the prop hub, but will look closer. Also it will hold in reverse.

Forgot to mention that when you place in forward the prop will turn with a clicking noise with ease.
