Re: Going EXTREME with my Bayliner

Thanks a million to everyone who posted. You guys helped me make the right decision. This boat will not get the "EXTREME" makeover.

Redfury and Dan Schmidt, thanks for your suport. I think you guys think like me. Nothings impossible when you have a great imagination. And , the crazier it sounds, the funner it gets.

It's all about learning. That's why I ask. "For, without questions, there will be no answers"

If you want to see some of my other crazy projects, check out my websight:

Thanks again for your honest opinions, FastBoatBronson

What's life if you can't have fun with it, right? Buddy of mine chopped an F150 frame down to accommodate the short wheelbase of his early 60's Falcon. This guy walks with the help of a Cane most days. He cut the frame, welded it and got it under the Falcon with ZERO help from anyone. Ambition is one heckuva driving force. Glad you were open minded enough to take in all the varied opinions you got from the members here and made a sound decision. ;)

Re: Going EXTREME with my Bayliner

Thread resurrection. It was interesting reading all the pros and cons folks listed. I'm just wondering if anyone considered turbocharging especially if you've go the volvo AQ151 or AQ171. I also play in the turbo charged volvo world and we routinely Turbo na engines in fact both of the marine versions I just mentioned are highly desireable in the hotrod volvo world - hotrod volvo seems like an oyxmoron but.. Lots of v8 cars get surprised at the track. Seems like the biggest issue would be how to route/cool the exhaust post turbo.. Just wondering. Would save having to have to whole weight and supporting structure of a v8.
Thanks

That is a great question and a cool idea. I will be watching to see if somebody has the answer. Thanks for the input, F-B-Bronson

I could see if I had one of those when I was seven or eight they would change my mailing address either to Mercy Hospital or the state prison.

I was thinking about this further. If you had the AQ151 the whole turbo set up from a Volvo 740 turbo would bolt right on. The AQ151 already had the hottest stock cam available from volvo. In place of the stock down pipe you'd have to weld up a fitting to add a mixer. I think the mixer off of one side of a big block would work then go through the transom. It would be louder but with the right turbo I don't see any reason you could not pull out an easy 200 250 hp. My 740 right now is at about 290 to the wheels. I imagine the drive train loss on a car is worse than a boat but I could be wrong.

Huh??

Thanks
