Going to be a hard weekend...

I got a call yesterday that my Mother wasn't feeling well.She had just moved to a new assisted care facility 4 days ago and was really happy and doing well Thursday when i talked to her.
The Administrator called me yesterday and said they found her yesterday morning just barely responsive.This was at 3:15 pm. I was pissed no one had called me sooner but my sister got off work early and was on the way there.
Its over a 100 mile drive for me.
I came home,showered and was getting ready to go up there when my cell phone rang...for some reason i knew it was not going to be a good call.
It was my sister and she was crying so bad i could barely understand her.
My Mother passed at 4:45 yesterday evening at age 69.It was so unexpected!She was doing well and playing bingo the night before..

I'm off this morning to go make the funeral arrangements.My sister and brother are not in the shape to make decisions right now.
Its a day i have always dreaded.I was the one who had to handle all of my dads arrangements when he died too.
Sometimes it sucks to be the strongest person in a family.
I know it will hit me hard when i see her....

Say a prayer for us guys....its going to be a hard next few days...

Yes, be strong for your family, but when you need to, go ahead and cry for yourself too.

I am so sorry to hear of your loss, prayers are sent. I have been where you are with both parents who are gone now. I do understand how you feel now. Take care and just know she is in a better place now.

A real bummer, Gary. I think it must be harder to lose parents if it is unexpected. Let your faith comfort you.

But for them I think it is better to go when they still know what is going on and recognise their family, etc. Both of my parents were in lala land for several years before the final release came. It was a relief for them and for us. I don't think it hurt less, but it sure did hurt longer.

My thoughts are with you.

Thanks so much everyone. I appreciate the prayers and well wishes.
I believe all those prayers helped me get through the day today,for that i am blessed to have so many friends i have never actually met.
Our Iboats community is the greatest and its so nice to know some people are out there praying for each other.
I was even surprised myself that i got through the arrangements today and was able to hold it together for my brother,sister and the grand kids.

I know the reality will hit hard at the funeral on Monday.I will grieve in my own time and way after that.
Maybe a day alone on the water will be my way to deal with it..
