Golight question

im looking to get a golight for my jon boat but I'm unsure which one is suited for my needs.

Im navigating extremely dark rivers at night. Some rivers i fish have an abundance of deadheads after the dams are closed.

I would like a light that gets me the best bang for my buck that I can mount to the front. something that casts a short to medium and wide bright beam primarily to spot those dead heads.

i see some of those lights can get up to 600 bucks which is not in my budget. I have seen the GXL with 110,000 candela power and the portable golight with 400,000 candlepower that look interesting.

Golight? Could that be "Golightly"? I would suggest Holly. You could stand on the quarterdeck and sing "Moon River". I imagine most of the deadheads would give way. I thought deadheads mainly hung around concert halls, but I guess they like to swim, also.

Have you thought of what we used to call "airplane landing lights"? They once were fairly inexpensive, 12 volt, available in most auto parts stores, and "lit up the world".

I wasn't joking about the landing lights. They are inexpensive, and do provide a lot of light. You might have to do a little engineering to mount it, but should not be too difficult.

Ayuh,.... I'd look into Led flood lights,....

Leds don't draw nearly as much power, for the light they produce,...

And I am not sure what a golight is, as I suspect a lot of others arnt as well, so a better description may help. On a boat for night running your only allowed a red / green in the front and a white one on the back for normal running and you may use docking lights when going in or out of a marina or a dock, and a search light when needed to spot navigation buoys and hazards. But you are not allowed to use head lights when your running at night, that blinds others and its not really effective any way. As all ready mentioned a aircraft landing light bulb in a search light is in common use. Thats what I use and its 1.5 million CP so it cuts through fog and other bad conditions.

i would got the go with the stryker golight,get the one with the two remote controls one is fixed mounted the other is hand held.
