Any hints on a good carpet shampooer machine to buy? Bissel? For dirt that gets tracked into house on carpet, occasional pet stains(old) Love the new Bissel vac! Carpet is low/medium height, something kinda light weight and easy to manuever

It is a bit pricey sounding but I just bought a RugDoctor. They are on Amazon and Ebay.

I don't think you will beat the 5 year warranty and no requirement to use only their chemicals to keep your warranty in effect. I think that last part which I learned after I received it impressed me more than everything else.

We have two. A Hoover steam vac pet complete and an older Hoover steam vac. The steam vac pet with the brushes cleans a lot better

I have a Hoover Max Extract that I like pretty well. It has a hose attachment with additional orbital scrubber. It was $169 free shipping on Amazon.

seems a steamer model will work best although you actually have to put in the hot water???

Yeah, not actually steam, just warm water. I find that cold water and "No soap" makes fine mud as well.

I'm very happy with our Bissell ProHeat Cleanshot 2X . It heats the water and blows warm air out the sides to help dry the carpet.

I have a Bissell, not sure of the make /model. About $150.00 It uses hot water and has a hand held hose for corners too. Cant say I am impressed, first one was a dog, was replaced no questions. But at the end of the day, I just don't think home carpet machines can come close to a professional, not at $150.00 price point anyways. If I could do it over, I'd not buy one and just pay a pro to do the dirty stuff because they have steam and I think that is key. I think spraying soap on a rug attracts dirt if you cant flush it out extremely well.

I had a pretty good carpet cleaning machine. I got rid of it because I no longer use it since I got rid of a lot of carpet and have hard floors. I would only get one if you need it for pet accidents. For actual cleaning, you need to have a professional to get the cleaning solution sucked out of the carpet. The small portable cleaners leave way too much soap in the carpet and that makes them get dirty again really fast.

When I work maintenance at my employer ( I flop departments seasonally ), I run a big carpet machine from time to time.. Things like a walk behind floor machine but for carpets. Very expensive, professional piece of equipment and it works well.. It is basically a rug doctor on steroids.. Having used the rug doctor also, as the big machine is too big, the maint manager rents a rug doctor by the week several times a year. Rug doctor takes too much water to be useful for a large area. It's a spot remover..

And it always takes 2-3 rinses with water to get the soap out

got the Hoover SteamVac Carpet Washer with Clean Surge, F5914900, wow what a difference!!! Vacced well first, so far carpet looks about as good as when I moved in, I think the difference is really having the steam to suck up and dry carpet after, havent used attachm, ents yet, but all else good, fingers crossed!!!

Whenever you use it, make sure you go over it a second time with clear water(no soap).

well sure has worked well even on the OLD stains before I bought this place, dont think this place has had carpets done in a LONG time, prior owners had long haired dog, geez the fur we always vac up! Some stains reappear but the rinsing w/ hot water help, will be maint items for awhile :)
