He carried on after being booed by labor activists. I like him for who doesn't like him. Its simple, get over it.

I have a lot of respect for the man myself.
his war crimes confession notwithstanding as it was given under a bit of duress, well maybe a lot of duress.
however he stuck it out in a place of total heck while others in our govt hid behind details. he had the chance to get out of hanoi free and refused it.

I like McCain.

I have heard him called a RINO (Republican in name only). Those who said it were complaining, but that's the main thing I like about the man. He toes to nobody's agenda, says and does what HE thinks is right.

We need more politicians who will stand for something without reading it off of someone else's platform or getting instructions from some special interest entity.

I haven't seen anyone (yet) that I would prefer for 2008.

One thing he is not... Conservative.

I would not vote for him no matter who else is on the ticket.

I'm sick of the whole Vietnam thing. As if that makes him, or anyone else, uniquely qualified based alone on that premise.

I too would not vote for McCain. He is left of most issues that I care about. He IS a RINO.

The POW experience gives men a unique perspective on life and death and sacrifice. I feel McCain would do an excellent job as President. Some of the ultra conservative spin is a load anyway ;)

Ultra conservative Ultra Liberal both are garbage in my mind. I sincerely believe most of America is made of folks who are in the middle of the road.

Get in one lane or the other, Those in the middle of the road get run over.

We need a third party for the "middle of the road moderates". I think "THE BANDWAGON PARTY" would suffice. After all, that's all they do... see which way the bandwagon is headed and jump on board after it's underway.

How about The Ultra Bandwagon Party? Gathering up people from both sides with the good of our nation in their heart.

I think that McCain is going to end up losing Republicans the election. To win in on a Republican ticket, you must run on a conservative platform. I believe McCain is going to merge to the right, but not fully to the right in order to gain the Conservative voting base as well as this mythical "Moderate" voting community that seems to have such power in American politics.

After McCain does not get the nod, he's going to flip and run as an Independent - pull a Perot. This would split the Republican party and thus cause us to lose the election to whoever the Dems run with.

The only factor that would change this theory is the fact that McCain old. This is his last chance at a Presidency. And while he likes the thought of being President, he doesn't like the thought of losing. Someone running as an Independent NEVER wins. That dynamic may cause him to simply bow out of the race - let hope that happens.

The only thing I fear is that he may run as an Independent only to diss the Repubs that denied him what he wanted. Something that he seems to enjoy.

Not only that, I think the McCain is in for quite the shock. Right now, he is the media's darling since he's bucking 'tha man (Republicans) so often. If he's running against a Democratic candidate (heaven forbid, Hillary) watch out, because the knives will be at his neck. He won't know what to do when his "friends" in the media turn on him.

Sean

Those with these lofty goals at heart are not true Bandwagoneers JRJ. I guess we need a fourth party then. The ULTRA Party sounds good by me.

FWIW, Most of the "labor activists" are idiots. He was correct to ignore them.

I don't mind McCain at all. And I don't mind Hillary at all.

I don't agree with every bit of what either espouses, but I would feel better that a choice of either of those two would not be bad for the country.

The same could not be said of the choice between Bush and Kerry.
