I have been waiting on the 5.7 mercruiser/chevy for my 1988 Marlin Ski Mangum and heard back that the engine block is done at the machine shop and crank is standard/standard and bores were honed and will stay standard.
Everything is cleaned and ready to reassemble with new rings and bearings. I have all the gaskets, timing chain and gears, oil pump and lifters. While the weather is delaying my transom and stringer work, at least the drive line is going to be ready to drop back in. I've already had the alternator and distributor tested and both are good.
Thankfully, the water in the cylinders only caused some minor rust and froze the rings. 8 valves had to be replaced and I had a blown head gasket.
I am stoked that I don't have to replace pistons or have the block bored!
Now if I could just order up some warm weather!
