Hello,

Local dealer has new 2008 Hurricane 202 FD/GS loaded with fishing package, MotorGuide wireless TM, Playpen cover, Stainless Bimini, dual axle trailer, Yamaha 150 4 stroke with stainless prop. $29,100 MSRP is $36k... Is this fair price or is there room on the price for negotiation? The boat originally was $29,999 without trailer and he included it for free... Would have cost $3k alone..

Thanks!

Cool boat, I know nothing about Tahoe boats, or their quality... I do like the 4 stroke Yammy on the Hurricane, the Tahoe has most of the goodies the Hurricane has... Still curious if the 202 Hurricane is a good deal? I may call the Tahoe dealer and talk about that boat.

The Starcraft is sweet! Looking for an outboard though. Spoke with a dealer in Ohio, he'll order me a 2010 Hurricane 202 GS loaded sport and fish package, with trailer, 150 yammy 4 stroke (stainless prop) delivered to my door for $31k

Looks like the dealer in Madison should be able to lower the price big time...

Don't know much about Starcraft but that it is an unbelievable price. I've heard Tahoe is step down in quality from Hurricane.

I think you can do better on the price, the season is coming to a close and the dealer will not want the boat on his lot all winter (or make that ANOTHER winter on the 2008 model). Offer 24K , leave your info and wait.

The tahoe is not close to the Hurricane as far as quality. The hurricane will have much better resale value.

Good luck Bear. Start low and don't be ready to walk out. Go in LOW. When the dealer says no. Tell him you are going to look at the Starcraft in 3 days. Give him your telephone and tell him to call you with his lowest offer. The dealer will call you back in a day or two with a serious counter. I was talking to the dealer that sold me my boat. He said it is SLOW!

even though it is a new boat, as soon as it leaves the dealers lot, it is a 2 year old boat.

even though Nada is not reliable, this is what it says for the 2007 202.

Boats and Personal Watercraft
Length: 20'
Model Name/Description: FUN DECK 202 GS(*)
Boat Type: Outboard Boats
Hull Material: Fiberglass

Beam: 8' 6"
Engine: 1
115 HP
Gasoline
Net Weight: 2425

Low Retail Average Retail
Base Price
$14,560 $16,600
TOTAL PRICE $14,560 $16,600

so i would say you will take a $6-8,000 hit when you drive off.

That 2010 model in Ohio sounds good for that price. BTW didn't you want a bigger engine. I remember you saying you'd like to do 50MPH ++.

Anyway that deal sounds good but being that the season for you I imagine is almost over why don't you wait for Winter? I just don't think that you have found a REAL GOOD DEAL yet. JMHO.

Re: Good Price for 2008 new Hurricane 202 GS?

On the 202 I would need the 200 Yammy to get close to 50 mph, and I understand that would be more than $3k for and extra 5 mph. I guess it's not that important. The 150 should do everything I need but hit warp speed.:D I offered the dealer $25k for the 2008, he said there's no way he can touch that. This was after I told him about the 2010 for $31k. He said that price is "to good to be true" because he knows what the boat costs. He was kinda flustered. The dealer in Ohio is sending me a written quote for that boat, so I can show the local dealer it's for real. Anyhow, after I said $25k he told me it's not his deal so I should wait to negotiate with the original sales person back Monday. Winter is a great time to buy a boat... Maybe I should chill, and play the game for a better deal. Maybe even go used... I've never had any vehicle purchased new, so there is something appealing about it, I understand the loss, but also know I'm the only one responsible for the boats future. We have 2 weekend trips planed this fall so I was hoping to have a boat for that, as it seems like my boss and his wife have my boat spoken for... And they want to enjoy it for a month or two before the snow flies...

No way that boat is worth more than 25K. The dealer is trying to sell you his problem. The season is starting to wane and next spring that boat will be two years old, and as soon as you drive it off the lot you are going to take a huge hit on depreciation and will still have a 2 year old boat. If money is no object then by all means go for it but if that is the case I would go for a 2010. When you go to sell it the buyer is not going to care that it sat for 2 years. On my last boat I found what I wanted and it had 40 hours on it. PO felt like he was selling a new boat and it was in new condition but I paid half of what he paid for the boat when he purchased it new in 2006. Course he was in a pretty big rock band so I don't think he cared about the money.

Call the guys at Splendor Boats and see what they say...I have one and it is awesome. They have both I/O and Outboard options so you can get either configuration. I don't make money off of sales, just a happy customer. I would at least give them a call and see what they can do. I ordered one from them two years ago for under $40k. Great boat for the price; and they deliver...
