I tried to help a stranded jet ski and ended up running aground rather quickly in a fast current and sucked a lot of beach sand into the motor, I took the strainer out and it was filled to the top with sand. Boat temp quickly rose, turned it off and while sitting in the channel getting hammered by boat wakes took the impeller out and ran water through the system most came out through the impeller area and then from the cooling pipe going to the exhaust. I kept flushing and starting and it was blowing sand back out. what is the correct method to ensure all the sand is out. Volvo penta aq131D. Also, I could not get the boat to restart and remain running, it kept cutting off like it was starving for fuel after this happened. (when I was flushing it back out, the water was landing on the dist. cap and alternator.) Cap seemed to be dry in the wire hole. Any ideas?
