good vibrations

i am wanting to put a 10 inch sub under my back seat on my boat......will the constant vibrating do anything undesirable to the hull? thank you

It'll infuriate anyone else on the water with you, but your boat deals with way worse than your sub can dish out.

Hull will be just fine. My buddys 30' cruiser has 4 10" subs in it, along with about 8 mids and highs, it really rocks out. If your not going to have it in an enclosure designed exclusively for it (specific volume) then make sure you get a free-air sub and also make sure it's marine rated.

It will only do undesirable things to others around you.
Who in turn may want to do undesirable things to you

Fishermen will blame you for scaring away the fish, regardless of whether it's true.

You may be able to open a tackle shop in the fall, to sell all the sinkers that are thrown at you.

Should be alright with the hull as the water and waves are much more abusive than the music, unless you will be rapping down the lake.

Has been known to cause 3/8" holes in the hull, just below the waterline.

We have a "Party Cove" at our lake, that everyone knows is wild n' crazy. There may as well be a "Enter at your own risk" sign on the idle buoys. Every weekend is like spring break at Daytona Beach, but it's known around the lake so those that aren't into the partying/loud music scene find another quieter area. We only anchor there on kidless weekends, enjoy the antics. Just find a area on your local watering hole where you fit in.

I think the point is that a radio sounds great to those wanting to listen..... imagine that you were just relaxing and someone anchored nearby blaring polka at a high volume..... even if they looked to be having a great time you might not love it.... It isn't so much age generation or jealousy.... I like loud music too but sound carries a LONG way on the water and there are alot of people who go there to relax instead of party......

It is very possible that the above comments were less of an insult and more friendly advice..... There are people who really would shoot at someone for irritating them and loud music can definately do it.....

My take on it is yeah crank it up in the party cove or while booking it down the river but turn it down in the no wake zone at the ramp or when cruising slow through the families fishing and swimming.... You don't need to hear the radio on your boat clearly whil dragging the trailer through the parking lot and it just isn't right for one person to decide that 100 people have to listen to their cranked up radio

The story goes the same with loud exhaust..... there are alot of boaters out there with go fast's and loud pipes who take it easy on the rest of us but there is always that %*^)&^% that is constantly goosing the throttle and comming into the no wake zone too fast blaring kid rock and trying to get every ounce of attention while constantly looking for a race...... He's the guy who absolutely can't have fun without taking away from the day of nearly everyone he encounters.... There is ALWAYS discussion of throwing lead at him....


By all means set your boat up to party..... I think that there are just some folks hoping you won't be another "that guy"......

i was just messin with you with the last post...i like loud pipes which i have on my boat, but i have captains call out of respect of other boaters.....i boat on the ohio river and i dont want to be around anyone anyway that doesnt have the same interests as me,so why would i want to have my radio up with a 60 yr old fisherman 100 yards away....the river is plenty big enough for the both of us......i do have respect for other boaters and some of the comments were NOT just helpful advice, they were angry at some other idiot and wanted to poke fun at me...... so respect on the water goes the same as respect in this forum. A lot of wakeboarders like myself think that people should quit complaining because the water is just as much mine as it is yours......these are the freedoms that our country came from so get over it...... What about respect towards us..i know that there are some idiots out there, but i am not one of them just the way i was raised......obviously some of the people on this post werent raised with respect so this is for u since you opened your ignorant mouths

wow I never knew the old fishermen were so rough on wakeboarders.....
As for not being helpfull advice..... to make that decision you have to assume that the person was talking about the holes coming from their own boat...... It is quite possible to interpret the statement to mean that there are nutcases that might over react too a radio..... I've have a small lake nearby called hardy lake. Half of that lake is no wake. I have had my 26' carver flybridge cruiser out there several times and it really stands out since it's twice the size of most on that lake and as such throws more of a wake than most. I have on occasion had early morning fishermen screaming at me for idling by with the radio playing softly..... they'll scream at me to slow down when my gps says 3.2 mph.... that's when I just saw some guy nearly on plane in a jonboat but nobody said a word to him

Really no need to get ruffled.... Better to show someone how wrong they were about you.... the first half of your last post made you sound like a class act... the second half ummm not so much.... What good does that do ya.....

fwiw I'm gonna have a couple subs on my wellcraft but since tha vast majority of those with loud stereos are menaces reading your question made me think of the jerks too..... If indeed you are considerate of others then you surely have noticed those who aren't and can easily understand where any reservations come from..... If you want to be mad at someone why not the jerks who make the rest of us look bad.

I do alot of offroading in my jeeps and once in a while I run into someone who hates my guts just because I'm in a jeep..... I see idiots on the trails throwing beer cans all over the countryside running super loud exhaust and tresspassing/damaging private property..... Instead of picking a fight I make every effort to have an intelligent conversation and then If they are willing to talk I show them the big black bag of trash I collected on the trail that day.... It's amazing how people will turn around when they realize their assumption was wrong

Lots of boats mysteriously sink up on the Lac Court Oreilles Indian Reservation. Or are stripped clean in the night.

Smoke made a particularly good comment about 2 posts up, concerning how some people can't seem to gain something for themselves without taking away from someone (or everyone) else. It's really the crux of what separates the considerate from the inconsiderate, the secure from the insecure, and the adult from the child

Green, sounds to me like you have the right attitiude about respecting others' "space" and it's too bad everyone isn't big enough to be that way. On one end of the scale are the people who go around annoying others by not respecting their day, but on the other end are the grouchy tight(butts) who can't stand seeing other people have fun--like the ones who hate all jet skiers. Each is just selfish and childish.

There have been discussions where the fisherman says he "needs" the whole lake to be quiet so he can fish anywhere without the fish being spooked (as if) and the pleasure boater who correctly says the fisherman just isn't entitled to control that much space. Sometimes the old timers are unreasonably selfish.

To me, it's a matter of degree. If I'm out fishing, or cruising, or relaxing on my pier or porch, I like seeing the occasional pair of jet skis playing around, or the occasional go fast or party barge going by--not for me but I appreciate seeing other people having fun in their way. But I couldn't abide a river full of them constantly.

So have fun with your bass (sounds like base not grass) while I have fun with my bass (opposite).
